opening shot establishes context for the video and indicates its time period. this is through close ups of specific costume that indicate a time period such as the armour warm by post malone. it also establishes post malone as the main character within the video as he is the only character present, the use of slow motion further anchors him as the focus, it focusses on him for a longer him indicating to the audience they should pay more attention to him.
uses a panning shots over the dead bodies is from the perspective of the main character, putting the audience in his point of view as he walks over them. this further establishes context and gives the audience a secondary focus of the video: the battle thats just taken place. however, by being from there perspective of most malone it still reinforces him as the main focus.
there is then a quick obstructed shot of a woman creating a hermeneutic code of mystery for the audience to discover her role within the narrative of the video, this ads depth to the narrative and story encouraging viewers to continue watching.
all the opening shots were slow an controlled establishing the context of the video, however, once the lyrics begin and post malone is singing it cuts to a mid shot of him, using a hand held camera this reinforces his disorientated state as he stumbles while he walks. this pans to a long shot of the area hes just walked, establishing the journey or path he has just walked, further creating narrative and a story for the viewers to follow. this is further anchored by another shot of the woman, creating a proaretic code of him walking towards her, despite not seeing them in the same shot together yet.
post malone then enters another scene, a group of montage style shots is used quickly cutting
between long shots and slow motion close ups quickly establishes the new scene without taking
away from post malone. this then cuts to another mid shot of post malone singing, similar to that
